Three way tie in Tunisia
A group of 3 players lead the inaugural Tunisian Golf Open with -10 total, France’s Dominique Nouailhac, Italy’s Joon Kim and overnight leader England’s Josh Loughrey.
The summer already arrived in Monastir and the wind was quiter than during first 2 rounds. First leader at the club house, 45 year old Dominique Nouailhac with the best score of the day, 66.
“I played very well but most of all I holed putts which obviously made the difference. I prefer this 4 round event for sure, this is how it should be played. You can afford a bad round. Tomorrow I will stick to my plan. I can not control what others will do so I will focus on my game.”
Joon Kim was the second co-leader to sign his card. He only dropped one shot on the second hole and then holed 4 birdies.
“I did not play very well but as the wind was not that strong I still had a decent round. My putting was not as accurate as the other days but I am happy to be there.”
The third co-leader, England’s Josh Loughrey admitted it was a tough day. He has been a while since he lead a tournament – Amateur time – and the high temperature did not help him to stay cool.
“I could feel the pressure to day, what a difference it is to lead. I made some mistakes, I bogeyed the 7th, the 11th and the 13th but I finished with a good up and down on the last which was nice.”
The battle should interesting for the last round as 6 players are only 4 shots behind or less. France’s Matthieu Pavon is one shot back on the lead and will aim a second win on Alps Tour. England’s rookie Liam Harper, is -9 as well. Enrico Di Nitto shot best score tie of the day 66 and France’s Damien Perrier is -8 total thanks to solid 69. The latter holed in one the 8th hole but he wished he had done this ace on Sunday.
“I knew that the car, a Jaguar XF, was in play only for the last round. I hit a perfect 6 iron straight to the flag. It bounced exactly in line, as a good putt and before it went in I told Brendan (McCarroll) -ho ho, wrong day…- but it is nice”
